Where to call for your building permit in the greater Lansing, Michigan area.

If your not sure where to get your building permit the link at the bottom of the page will help. It tells you which government agency you need to call to get a Building, Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical permit. The down side is there are no phone numbers. Unfortunately, building department numbers are some of the hardest to find.

One reason is, a lot of the governing agencies do not call them selves the “building department”. Someone, (who I am sure is trying to justify his/her position) sits around and thinks of names to call themselves other than “the building department” such as: Code compliance - Code enforcement - Building safety etc.

Some of the townships and local governments have web sites. However, a lot of them only give the address to the building department………no phone number! It is beyond my comprehension as to why someone would go to the trouble of designing a web site and not list the phone number!
