GLASERS LUMBER
PROS
Great Lumber selection - outstanding service - free bids - they pick up returns - good delivery time.
CONS
May not be the cheapest.
If I need a small amount of wood, I find the local chain stores are convenient. But for my larger projects, I always use Glasers located at 16501 S. US 27 in Lansing on the East side of the road. Phone number 517 484 0387
If you are planning a project where you will need more than a couple of 2 x 4’s, then you might want to consider Glasers. Their service is outstanding. You can take your blue prints to them or your drawings and they will give you a total package bid including trusses.
You can get your lumber package from the chain stores, but it has been my experience that the correct amount of wood is rarely delivered. If the package is delivered incorrectly, they are not very fast at getting the correct amount of wood to you .
Glasers, by contrast, has delivered one piece of wood with in an hour or two of my phone call. In addition, if you have returns, they will come and pick them up.
Keep in mind that there are a lot of suppliers in the Greater Lansing area. If you are strictly price conscious, then you may want to shop around. It is not uncommon to be able to piece you order together from a number of vendors to save money. For example, you may find the OSB board is the least expensive at store A, and the 2 x 4’s are the least expensive at store B and so on. If you submit the same blue print or drawing to multiple suppliers, then you will be able to piece together and order at substantial savings.
